Happy Leap Day everyone! I always thought it would be kinda neat to be born on this day!  Just something really unique.

It sure has been awhile since I have posted here. There really isn't much that has been happening so I didn't have anything to really write about. I still don't have much to write about but I had to post on Feb.29th! LOL

I wanted to share a treasure and story with you. My paternal Grandpa was a mechanic. He worked many years in the auto garage in his small town and then he decided to go out on his own and be a tractor and farm machine mechanic. I remember that he had this aqua colored van and he had all of the back seats removed and had all of his tools in the back and also shelves and drawers and things for his parts and nails and screws. My sister, brothers and I used to love going into the back of Grandpa's van and just opening all of the little drawers and seeing what was in all of them. He knew we did this and he started putting candy in different drawers so we would find that and call it the "magic drawer". My Grandpa dies in 1978 and after his death my dad got a few of his things. Over Christmas we were going through them and dad was telling us what they were. Grandpa was also an inventor. If there was a tool he needed that he didn't have he would make it. There were a lot of things my dad had that Grandpa had made. It was neat hearing and seeing what they were used for. Dad also had this toll case thingie that Grandpa had made...it was a number of drawers and had a piece of board across the top so he could carry it. Each drawer is divided a different way and there were washers and nails and screws and lots of other things in there that I don't have any idea what they were. Well I fell in LOVE with it. First of all it was just a smaller version of what Grandpa had in the back of his van and so it brought back memories, second of all it was made by Grandpa and third it just looked cool.  You could definitely tell it was well used and also by a mechanic, it had a lot of nicks and dings and grease on it but again I LOVED it. I asked if I could have it and my dad let me have it. I have done a lot of cleaning it up and here it is!
Isn't it just the coolest thing? I still have some work to do on the bottom two drawers but I love it...did I say that already? LOL

Well I think that is it for today. Have a fantastic march everyone! Think Spring!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day. Today is not only a day to celebrate romantic love but also all of the other loves we have in our lives so that means I am celebrating the love of  God,my family, friends and life.

I thought I would take this day to show you my decorations for Valentine's day, before I put them away.
Here is the wreath I made on my front door. I made it by braiding yarn.
This is my bakers rack in the kitchen with the plant my mom and dad bought me.

This is a table that has my thrift sale finds, napkin holders and a basket and then a print.
Here is my Valentine's tree.

These are votives that I decorated and I think they turned out really cute.
Here is my shelf in my craft room, I love the little banner .

And this is a card I stitched for my aunt and uncle,

I really hate taking things down, in fact I think I will celebrate the whole month, it can be the month of love and not just a day right? Then I can start with Easter and spring! See you then.

Good evening everyone. I had a really good day today. I had a very good workout. I did two machines and worked out for a hour straight. That is a good workout for me. I also did some cleaning and some reading. It was chilly today but not as chilly as it can be this time of the year so I am not complaining. At least the sun was shining brightly.
I found this on Pinterest and I made some of them up today and I am going to put them at the stores that have bulletin boards, I think it is really neat and it just might bring a smile to someone's face.

Here are the Valentine blocks I made, they aren't too bad but next time I think I will try some things differently, I guess you always learn from what you do.
Well that is it for now. Thank you to all who come and read here, I truly appreciate it. Please leave a comment and let me know you were here. Have a great one and be blessed!

Catch up Post

Happy Tuesday everyone! I am a happy girl today. My mom and dad are home from Arizona. I went out to their house to see them and visit awhile when they got home. They had a great time but are also glad to be home. here is a picture of them at The Grand Canyon.
Now that they are home I have my camera so here is what I did with the redwood branches I "found"

See they are so cute and well worth all of the trouble I went to get them. I love how they look with the conversation hearts too.

Here is the shelf I found down in the basement on my midnight stalking adventure and also the jars I found down there too.
Well there you have the pictures of my midnight stalking. I will be back later with my Valentine blocks I made. Have a great day.

Saturday, February 4, 2012

Another Saturday is almost gone. I just got done talking to my mom and dad on the phone. They are in Arizona and have been there almost two weeks and I miss my momma! My mom is my best friend a lot of the times my mom is my only friend. With my continuing to heal and not working we talk on the phone a couple times a day. It is funny because whenever we hang up we usually call each other right back because we remember something else to say. My "gets me" like no one else gets me. We are a lot alike and yet are also different. If I can become half the woman she is I will be so happy. I admire the faith she has and how she lives that faith. She is my hero. She is my strength. She is my courage. She is my cheerleader. She is everything. I love you mom!

The weather was beautiful again today. The temps were in the high 30's maybe even 40 and the sun was shining brightly. I even went out for a walk today. I usually don't walk outside because of my balance problems but it was just so nice and I needed some exercise. I didn't fall so that is a good thing.
My sister and I are leaving in the morning to go and watch my nephew Logan at his conference swim meet. It should be a lot of fun. He is a really good swimmer and has won every race so it will be good to see how he does with some better competition.
Have a great rest of the weekend everyone. Love you and be blessed.

Midnight Stalker...

I admit it I am a total night owl. I am at my best starting at about 9pm until about 2am. It usually is ok because I am just in my craft/computer room doing my own thing`and sometimes I am cleaning but just the quiet things no vacuuming. Sometimes however I will be on the computer and usually on Pinterest and see an idea I just HAVE to do. This has happened to me twice this week. First off I was browsing and I saw someone had made a centerpiece using dogwood branches. They were so pretty, all red and I though oh that would be so neat for Valentine's Day. SO I jumped in my car and just went around town looking in somewhat wooded areas for a dogwood tree or bush, whatever they are. Needless to say it was dark and I didn't get very far on that journey. The next day I decided to go looking again and tah dah I found one down by the river. Well there was too much traffic around so I first went out to my dad's garage and got a pruning clipper thingamagig and then waited until my prime time! I get in my car at about 11pm and down by the river I go. Here I am cutting branches off of a dogwood tree/bush in the middle of the night. I am sure if anyone saw me they would have called the police just because they would think I was crazy, I was, crazy for dogwood branches! I got them home, put them in a vase and then put conversation hearts around the outside of the vase for filler, it is so cute! I will share a picture when I get my camera back from my parents. I am sure you will all agree with me it was well worth the risk! Then last night it really wasn't one certain idea it was just the urge to go and treasure hunt in my apartment's basement. I have lived here for 5 years and I have NEVER been down there but I just felt something tugging me down there. So last night at 1am (oh I guess that would be this morning) There I am down in the pretty dark and musty basement "just looking" until tah dah...a whole shelf of canning jars. There were some ball ones and I am not sure but I think they are older. I know they weren't anyone's that live there now because the tops were all rusted and there were a lot spider webs on them. So I just had to rescue some of them. I brought them up to my apartment and I had some rust remover so I got the covers off and then soaked the tops of the jars in that and got almost all of the rust off. Now I am going to use them to put buttons and stuff in for my crafts. So there are two of my most recent midnight stalker stories. Hope you enjoyed them!
