So excited!

Well after two long months I finally get to share with the world that I am going to be an Auntie again! My brother is over 40, just got married for the first time a year ago December, became a dad to her two boys and now in March he will be a daddy again. It is all very exciting and we all feel so blessed. This is the video I made so they could tell the families.

I am not sure if my blog is showing up in your blogs you follow list or not...I had this bright idea to change the name of my blog and add primitive to the title. I didn't even think it through that I might lose the followers so I changed it back but not sure if it shows up on your dashboards if I make a new post or not. i guess this will be the testing post.

I think that is all for tonight until I see if this works. Have a great weekend everyone!

Catching up...

Good evening friends! I hope this post finds all of you having a great day, happy, healthy and having memory making moments. Things have been going really well for me. I have taken a step out of my comfort zone and started to try and make some of my own crafts. I love doing the swaps but it gets kinda expensive when you have to buy everything. I don't have a sewing machine so any sewing is by hand which has been interesting. LOL I am very thankful that there are some free patterns on the internet. I love how people share their knowledge with others. If I ever get anything that is half way decent I will post a picture.
So as you all know it was my birthday and I got this from my mom, it has a crack but I don't even care because I think it is so neat. I am going to put in weeds and stuff for a nice fall display.

I also got a beautiful rose from a friend of mine, we went out to lunch yesterday and she bought lunch and also gave me some scratch off tickets...I won $2.00!! LOL
Then sweet Steph from Front Porch Prims sent me these things!

She made the cute crows, pillow and great smelling bowl filler and then she gave me the two bears together that says forever friends. It is a hanging ornament. They all mean so much to me. Thank you again Steph, you are such a sweetie!

Well I think that is all I have for today. I hope you all have a great Thursday and then a nice long Labor Day weekend! Can't believe it is going to be September already! Be blessed all!

My Vacation

Last week my sister, mom, dad and I went to Michigan to go to Mackinac Island. It was a beautiful trip so I thought I would share some pictures.  We traveled a bit more than half way on the first day and stayed right on the border of Wisconsin and Michigan the first night in Marionette WI. I knew we were staying there so I went on the web to see if I could find any prim stores there and I hit the jackpot. I found the shop called 1896 Homestead Shoppe, LLC. I messaged her on FB to see what her hours were on Friday and she messaged me back that they were open until 5, we pulled into town at 5:30 and it was the first place we went. My mom, sister and I went in and of course bought some things. Here are just two pictures I took of her cute Halloween/Fall things. Very cute store.
I love lighthouses!

On Mackinac Island..no motorized vehicles, horses, bikes and feet are the way to get around.

My favorite place, Arch Rock. It was a cave and the rest collapsed leaving just the opening, so pretty!

From Arch Rock to the shore below where people have made pictures with rocks, the Olympic rings and hearts.

It was a great vacation and a lot to see, some things we didn't even get to see, maybe another trip another time.

Special Treasures.

Hello my dear blogging friends. Oh  I am so excited to share some great things that the mailman (well I actually have a mail woman) has left on my doorstep recently lately ~ it has been like Christmas...or perhaps my birthday. LOL
First of all I received my giveaway prize from Brenda at The Rusty Thimble ~ this adorable Santa apron pocket. I just love it and haven't had the heart to put it away yet. It is sitting next to me on top of my printer. I keep glancing at it and getting a big smile on my face. I love Brenda's work so much that I also ordered these cute candy corns and a cute pumpkin, they bring smiles to my face also. Thank you so much Brenda!

I also ordered this super cute pumpkin pocket with a little witch mouser in it from Carol at Butter Creek Farm. Carol was so sweet and worked with me because when I saw it on her log I fell in love with it and she made it happen! It is even cuter in person. Thanks Carol!
I also ordered some yummy looking apples from Granny Trace at Granny GrannyTrace Scraps & Squares . I had the bowl all ready for them and I think they look great in it. She also sent me a beautiful crocheted dish cloth. Thanks Trace!
I am so thankful that you creative people share your talents with those of us like me that are not creative so we can still have cute things to decorate with. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart!

I am leaving in the morning (Friday) to go on another mini vacation. My parents, sister and I are going to Mackinac island in Michigan. We were there when I was a kid but I am really looking forward to seeing and experiencing it as an adult. I will also be meeting two very special people that I have known on the internet for about maybe 8 years now. I feel so blessed to be able to meet them and I am looking forward to it so much. I hope to have a lot of beautiful pictures to bore with all of you when I get home.

I am so excited with how many people signed up for my birthday giveaway! I will be picking the winner on Thursday and hopefully I will be able to send it out to the winner on Friday.

Well have a great weekend everyone! Be blessed.

I am linking up to Tammy's party and hope you will go to her blog and see the wonderful pins. I saw these firecrackers pinned on Pinterest from Pick your plum where you could buy the wood and stuff to make them...I though oh what the heck I can get the wood cut and make these for myself. Here is the Pinterest picture.
And then here is the set I made...I guess I should have curled the wires but all in all it wasn't too bad.
Thanks for stopping in, Have a great day!

Alzheimer's

what a vicious disease! My Godfather was a pharmacist and he owned two drug stores in Eau Claire WI. He loved doing what he did and especially helping people. I remember in the summer when I would go and stay with them one of my favorite things to do was visit Uncle Pete at his store. I was always in awe at how fast he counted pills and filled bottles, It was all done by hand back then. I remember after he retired and sold his stores he would still volunteer at 3 nursing homes filling their prescriptions. He was such a smart man and so generous. My family and theirs would go to a cabin together for a week every summer. Uncle Pete would always bring his Pharmacy bag. Whenever one of us kids would not feel well or if we got hurt we would always go to Uncle Pete because he always had something to make us better, at the very least a special ban aid.
Uncle Pete always took care of himself physically. He ate healthy foods, swam at the club 3-4 mornings a week and rode his bike every day, even on vacation.
Now Uncle Pete my Godfather is in a Nursing Home suffering with Alzheimer's. My Godmother, Aunt Marge was not able to take care of him at home anymore even though she tried so hard, She is now at the nursing home every day from 7:30 in the morning until 6 or 7 at night, Today I went to visit them, I don't know if my Uncle Pete knew who I was or not but his eyes lit up and I got a big smile.
Oh yes Alzheimer's is a horrible disease. A person can work hard to keep their bodies fit, be smart as a whip, make a great living and it just doesn't matter. The disease steals  away so much. The confused looks and the blank stares are the hardest. This disease not only steals from the patient but also from the families. My Aunt Marge is so affected by this. Right now she has no other life but being at my uncle's side day in and day out at the nursing home. She tried to be brave but I can tell it is really wearing on her as well. We try to gently persuade her to do things for herself, stay at home some, go shopping, something for herself but right now she feels her place is beside Pete. We are praying that as time goes by she will be able to spend a few less hours there.
Well this isn't a very pleasant post but it is something that I just need to get out. I am praying for my Godparents Pete and Marge and also for all Alzheimer patients and their families. Be blessed everyone and be thankful for what you have.
